Transparency Statement & Policies

  • As an organization, the Indigenous Foundation hopes to work to combat any misinformation or false news that is present in its social media and website. Before each article and post is released, we go through a vetting process to ensure all sources are given and no misinformation is present. This is done through our team’s “partner system,” meant for team members to inform one another about any harmful language or misconstrued information. If any valid concerns are raised over a post or article, we ensure the post is taken down and/or edited with a disclaimer and transparency statement on our page.

  • The Indigenous Foundation ensures that all credit is given to any reposted art medium or imagery used in our posts as well as website sources through written pieces. The Indigenous Foundation also states if a podcast cover or art piece is made by its team- therefore no credit toward external sources is given. The Indigenous Foundation requires that credit be given for any reposts of its team member’s written pieces or artworks. The Indigenous Foundation’s original content may not be altered without prior consent.

  • The Indigenous Foundation would like to note that while in the process, it is not a nationally nor internationally registered non-profit. Therefore, any donations as part of the Indigenous Foundation only go toward external Indigenous-owned non-profit organization. Any compensation given to the Indigenous Foundation for any purposes are strictly put aside to maintain TIF’s website and any materials for its campaigns. The Indigenous Foundation is transparent about where its donation money is sent toward, and at the end of each donation campaign will share written and electronic proof that all money is donated toward external organizations.

  • As the Indigenous Foundation’s team consists of over 30+ Indigenous/POC women, 2S, and non-binary folk we work to share holistic and diverse perspectives. As an organization committed to raising awareness about Indigenous rights, the Indigenous Foundation hopes to provide inclusive resources and awareness regarding Indigenous groups, including Afro-Indigenous and 2S representation/inclusion. The Indigenous Foundation also ensures that personal narratives and stories shared are shared through the perspective of team members who identity as Indigenous. We ensure that voices which are non-Indigenous do not overpower Indigenous voices nor share information in the perspective of Indigenous peoples. We also acknowledge the intersectionality of certain issues within Indigenous communities and topics.

  • The Indigenous Foundation would like to ensure that its social media platform is a safe space for Indigenous peoples to come forward and share their opinions. The Indigenous Foundation does not tolerate hateful or racist comments made toward Indigenous peoples, and ensures that comment sections share respectful and non-derogatory opinions. We also ensure that when sensitive topics are discussed, a disclaimer is added.
