Bella Lee-Rojas
Columnist + Projects Team
Bella Lee-Rojas is a 16 year-old multi-racial (Chinese, Turkish/Iranian, and Indigenous) girl from the San Francisco Bay Area. She first became interested in Indigenous culture through her love of history and desire to explore her grandmother's Cherokee and Choctaw roots. Bella is particularly interested in the intersection between history, law, and social justice. She believes that clearer education and acknowledgment of historical events can inspire activism. Moreover, critically examining history is the fundamental step in correcting a legacy of injustice and misrepresentation of Indigenous peoples and culture. As a part of the writing and projects team at TIF, Bella hopes to dive into current inequities Indigenous communities face. Additionally, she aims to shed light on the historical presidents laying the foundation for the continued oppression of native peoples. After high school, Bella plans to attend university to study Native American and Postcolonial Studies. In her free time she also enjoys reading, baking, hiking, and backpacking.
